Let’s Looklet

Posted by nona | kakikayan | Friday 5 February 2010

Long holiday is coming up. Almost one week! Gong xi fa cai and Spring festival. Feb. 4 was officially announced as the start of Spring, just the season and yet the weather ‘coz up to this time it’s still snowing okay? Tricky limbo time again. The company gave each of us two bottles of wine, hub got two and we have four bottles. Perfect for our candle light dinner on the 14th.

Chatty me, it doesn’t make sense at all!

Lately, I was hanging out at looklet. I could spend an hour mixing n’ matching on site where you could create your own fashion statement by simply dressing up models with gorgeous pieces you could choose from their gallery. From street fashion or ala-Alexander Mcqueen’s style.

Try it here.

Icy World

Posted by nona | picture post | Saturday 30 January 2010

Shenyin (my officemate) sends these pictures she personally captured from Hunan. The province is located in the south central of Chinese mainland. I wanted to share it with you….

Temperature goes down @ its coldest, with negative 47 degrees centigrade, hear ye -47! Wuho, hindi na yata kayanin ng powers ko iyan. -15 here in Penglai City and is already freaking cold.

After it rained

Everything turned amazingly icy…

Meanwhile on the other part of the woods, she enjoys playing (like a kid) in the snow :D

Thanks Shen, for the pics.

XOXO

What awaits us in 2010?

Posted by nona | travel, random, vacation | Tuesday 19 January 2010

Happy new year to all! It’s 2010. Delayed reaction…I know. I still have an aftershock of the holiday…alam niyo na ang feeling pagkatapos but after few more days, I came to realized that the “HOLIDAY is O-V-E-R!”

Mukhang hindi maganda ang bungad sa atin ng 2010, kabilaan ang sunog sa Pilipinas. Luzon and some part of Mindanao was hit by 4-5 magnitude tremor, on a positive remark…thank God nothing worst was happened. The Port-au-Prince in HAITI was horribly struck by a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. That caused widespread destructions of homes, buildings, hospitals, hotels, schools, even the President’s palace and most of all thousands of lives. The disaster is quite alarming, isa na namang hagupit ng kalikasan. I have heard and read about the 2012 prophecy, do you? It’s scary but I am still on the constructive side, with all our prayers. Solely GOD knows what would going to happen.

Oops, don’t get too serious. How was your holiday season? I’m sure everyone of us have full of fun stories to share with. I had a blast! T’was sooo-per happy. I mean every christmas and new year naman is special for me, sobrang saya lang last year. Of course, didn’t forget to thanked GOD for all the blessings He showered to our family. For the good and even bad times. Life is a blessing.

Just came back here in CN a week ago. The day we left for Manila is already snowing and the weather is more worst when we came back. Thank God, we still manage to arrived safely at Yantai airport despite of.

Snowy Shandong…

Forgive me for being pasaway, I am aware…electronics are bawal during take off and landing

The whole of Yantai and Penglai city was covered in snow and is impassable….

There you go. TA!

Official kick off

Posted by nona | moda | Friday 4 December 2009

December is here! Ang bilis ng panahon. Official kick off of holiday preparation. I have a long list to do…even menu for Christmas and new year. I received our plane ticket for PH this morning. I know this could be a nerve-janggling weeks ‘coz I have to finish works before I leave. Replying emails, reports and so on.

Of course shopping is not an exception,  it’s time to hit the stores and score everything on my wish list and christmas presents for my family and close friends.

This is one of my favorite boutique, not only they sell branded stuff and gorgeous pieces but the ambience is relaxing as if you’re just at the comfort of your own room.

winter must have….

Hot tea is served here while waiting for your purchase. L’s place while waiting for me :D

Not included in my budget. BRB soon….

Mirror mirror on the wall…

Ano pa ang hinihintay? Pasko?

While watching the news on tv I could not help but cried. As of this writing almost 57 cadavers has been recovered from killing field, a gruesome and sadistic election-linked masacre that happened in Ampatuan Maguindanao monday this week Nov. 23. This is an evil act that will be remembered as the darkest day in the history. Despite of the names that being mentioned as the mastermind of the killing the government has yet done anything to investigate or questioned or whatever them. No quick arrest until cases are filed against the prime suspect, due process should be observe according to Malacanang. Pero kailan? Hanggang matabunan na naman ang kaso? Or Just because they were government allies? This is horrific!

Nakakalungkot, nakakapanggigil!

My prayers for all the victims and the victim’s relatives. Sana makamtan ninyo ang hustisya.

The denial, the abused and the defender

We have two reasons to say bravo, first the winning of our “Pambansang Kamao” Manny Pacman over Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto. Next is the proclamation of Efren Penaflorida as the CNN hero of the year for his advocacy to educate street children by means of his kariton klasrum (Pushcart classroom) I really admire his dedication. Congrats to both!!

But what made me rindi (pakelam ko daw?) is the MASTA (Manny-krista) mania. I am chismossah ‘no! lol! I am sure you are all aware of the rumored affair between the two. Hala just click the link here for your judgement. (pakelam niyo daw?)

The denial, the defender , and the abused.

And the God-fearing. Hay…kalokah!

Hair and Tooth Donation

Posted by nona | Arts and, moda | Saturday 21 November 2009

One of our aussie client is wearing a tooth pendant. I got curious when he told me about australian Polly van der Glas creation which I googled. The accessories are made of human hair and teeth. I’ve learned that the designer herself is taking donation for tooth and hair. Anyone? Ngeee.

Very toothie!

I find the first two a bit eerie.

Plaited human hair hoop earring. Verdict: Cute!

I am in the mood…

To chat! It’s because I am nowhere to go…I mean I could not still access most of the blogsites I used to visit. Mas nauubos ang time ko dati sa bloghopping. Mas naeenjoy ko magbasa ng mga post kesa sa magpost. Namimiss ko na ang mga updates niyo.

I never knew that LJ is a cool blogging place until I have tried to create another version of Caprichosa. The posting and uploading is easy as 1-2-3. Friends, I am cordially inviting you to try it…obvious ba? Para ma-access ko rin sana kayo lol! There is no harm and is absolutely free. See yah when I see you.

Jesus in Yellow

Posted by nona | opinion, message | Monday 9 November 2009

“The scene is a forest, in the dark of the night. Yellow shirts and soft yellow light, Regine Velasquez by a fire in the woods, singing of togetherness and unity and a farewell to fear. There is the small child, offering a bamboo torch to the senator. There is talk show host Boy Abunda, standing on a boat manned by a young boy. There is Kris Aquino, Noynoy’s sister, who is rumored to have been wining and dining A-list celebrities to support her brother. It is national unity via television ratings: the top stars of the warring networks linked by yellow. ABS-CBN’s darlings of prime time television are lit beautifully in the flickering firelight, holding their bamboo torches, hair bouncing as they walk, smiling soulfully into the distance. The camera lets GMA7’s number one love team Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera look lovingly at each other as they walk on, a smiling Sharon Cuneta raises a lantern, Ogie Alcasid marches with torch. There is the odd farmer and soldier, but it’s clear who the stars are. And so the full shot, a great phalanx of torch-bearing, yellow-clad men and women marching to battle, the celebrities at the front lines. Through it all, Noynoy smiles at children, at people, at the camera, smiles blankly, and you can almost hear him count in his head the seconds before he has to turn to the lens. In the end, he leaps awkwardly up to a mound of soil, surrounded by his beautiful constituency, and a sun explodes behind him in shattering brilliance.

In a nation where government responsibility has shifted to the media, and calls for aid are directed to newsroom desks instead of the hotlines of the National Disaster Coordinating Council, this sort of move isn’t particularly surprising. A united GMA7 and ABS-CBN may seem like the best of metaphors for a united nation, but it says very much about the sort of man Noynoy Aquino is. Flanked by stars, surrounded by celebrities, content to ride on the waving banner stamped with his parents’ faces. There is no message, other than that personality is king. There are no voices, not even his. His defenders say it’s not the time for campaign—and yet that video rolls on and on in prime time television. You are not alone, they say, but who stands with you? Anne Curtis? Ate Shawie? Marielle Rodriguez? Just recently, Noynoy promised to give up his share of Hacienda Luisita, and yet denies knowing of eviction notices to farmers even while the case sits in the Supreme Court. Laza continues to march in rallies, five years after a bullet ripped a good man away. Nothing has changed, the same songs, the same names, the same injustices.”

Picking all the pieces…

Posted by nona | message | Monday 26 October 2009

I don’t know where to start, I have been detached from blogworld for quite sometime. Saan ba ako mag-uumpisa?

My half month vacation in Manila is not bad but not a better one either. We all knew what happened nang maghasik ng lagim si Ondoy. I arrived the day before the “delubyo” started. Our place is not affected by the flooding, we are one of those lucky na hindi inabot but most of my relatives, our ancestral house, mom-in-law, sisters and friends dear to us are living in Marikina, so to speak they were not spared from Ondoy’s wrath. At isa sa mga lugar na nakaranas ng matinding hagupit. Everything has been washed out, as in nothing was left. Back to zero talaga. My days were very busy after that two long days of waiting, yun lang kasi ang time na pwede nang magmaneho sa kalsada. I did my best to help in my own little way, sharing foods and clothing. Hindi man kalakihan pero yung empathy and being with them is malaking bagay na. My heart bleeds when I personally saw the aftermath, grabee…as in sobrang nakakaiyak. When my SIL narrated what she and her 3 children had been through when they were staying at the roof of their two-storey house; my eyes could not stop tears from welling, kinikilabutan nga ako. I could not imagine if I and my kids would be on the same situation. Anyhow, I still thanked God that our families and friends are all safe, I think that is more important….walang nasaktan, walang namatay. Ang mga materyal na bagay ay mabibili pa natin pero hindi ang buhay.

Here are some pictures to share which my daughter took along the road, not a pleasant one to look at but a devastating effect of the calamity. Hindi ko lang maiwasang mag isip…what others did to our mother earth? Sabi niya siguro “oh ayan, ibalik ko sa inyo lahat ng itinatapon niyo sobra sobra pa” di nga ba? Wake up call.

God please, have mercy.
